IIHS Awards a Top Safety Pick to the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas SUV

To receive a Top Safety Pick award, a vehicle must earn a "Good" rating in each of the five IIHS crashworthiness tests, as well as offering an autonomous emergency braking system (AEB) that is rated at least "Advanced" for front crash prevention. Not only did the 2018 Atlas receive a "Superior" rating in the AEB testing, it was the only vehicle in its class to even offer an automatic post-collision braking system.

In a press release, Hendrik Muth, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy, declared, "Volkswagen’s commitment to safety and driver assistance technology is unwavering. We take great responsibility to ensure our driver assistance technologies get smarter. The Atlas is an example of our ongoing commitment to offering these features, and we are proud it has been recognized as an IIHS 2017 Top Safety Pick."
